What is required for successful implementation of AX PPE/fixed asset module?

Have someone implemented AX PPE module recently in multientity organization?

What are the best ways to this, so depreciations can be captured correctly and saving time while the asset register is kept organized in one source.

How long time has it taken for you to test and implement this kind of project?

Thanks for advises, Sisko

    Hello Sisko.11,

I do not know a PPE (property, plan, equipment) module. Is this a module that is delivered by your partner? The standard application includes a fixed asset module. The implementation of the standard fixed asset module does not take too long. It depends mainly on the number of fixed assets / groups and the number of different books that you need to implement. Typically, you can go live with this standard fixed asset module in a couple of weeks. However, as I mentioned, it depends on the specific circumstances.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

it depends from where you are starting, how far you need to  go with  and what you need to on the way.....

Are asset lifecycle polices defined? How many assets o what type?  what data, is already available and verified, e,g, do you know their current values, or acquisition cost and depreciation history or do you need an assessor to value, or do you need to first create an and verify an asset register.

are they bar coded, photographed,  or do they need to be? If you have to go back to unknown POs form unknown vendors in legacy systems to build the asset register then it might take a long time. Are you assets on one site or distributed across sites. or mobile e.,g by project or field engineer, do these need to be Linked to service module or maintenance software, will you track physical assets movements, do you lease in or lease out assets, loan assets to staff. customers? Categories, depreciation policies tools changeparts, expenses, vehicles, canteens, IT,  buildings, awards and gifts. Warranty? Open orders? Insurance?. There are many considerations so its a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. 6 days could be too long for some clients and 6 months to short for others.

The Ax configuration and data load,  is the easy part.

    Hi Ludwig,

Oh I indeed mean the fixed asset module, just took the definition from IFRS 16. Is there any specific steps you could advise on successful implementation and continuous usage? Can this be with two layers as regards country gaap and us gaap? Can this be done any time during the financial year? Many thanks indeed

    Hello Sisko.11,

If you have not setup the fixed asset module before, I recommend that you take a look at the Dynamics Learning Portal where the setup and transactions are explained.

The features you mentioned (two layers, country gaap and us gaap, ...) are supported in the standard application.

You can also setup the fixed asset module anytime during the year. The only thing that you have to take care of are the balances to transfer.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
