Is there a way to add a field on the Account Form to auto generate a new number whenever a record is created?  Similar to how Case has this out of the box?

I have the same question (0)

Would creating an Auto Number field on the Account entity work for you? Here is an example:

Wow I think that would work great!  Only problem is it says its not available in the classic interface.  How do I get to that area from the classic interface?

You will need to open Power Apps (make.powerapps.com)

Select the solution "account" and click edit

Click "New Column" on the top ribbon

Enter Display Name "Account ID" or "Account #"

    Select "Autonumber" for data type

    Complete the following fields:

    1. Autonumbering type: String prefixed number, Date prefixed number and Custom.
    2. Prefix: See preview below
    3. Minimum number of digits for Account ID
    4. Seed value: Where Account ID value starts

    Click "Save"

Add "Autonumber" field to "Account Form"

Return to "Account" Solution and click the drop down next to "Table" on the site map on the left hand side. Click the drop down next to "account" and select "Forms". Choose the form you would like to update and click "Edit"

Once the form loads choose the new field and place field within the "Account" form and publish changes.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I beleive I have followed all these steps. And if I upload a list of accounts all of then gets a unique accounID. Example below of an account that was uploaded from a file:
But when Iclick on NEW (Create a New Account record) the AccountID field in there remains empty and furthermore I cannot save the new record unless I enter a value in the AccountID field. Trouble is it is very hard to know what ID-number to enter. Example below when clicking on NEW:

How can I get the AccountID field to be automatically populated with a new unique ID when I click the NEW-button?
