AX 4.0 - Dynamics not responding

(0) ShareShare

Greetings,

Lately whenever I enter the AOT my Dynamics client stops responding. I can open the AOT just fine but as soon as I try and expand the reports, or any other node, Dynamics stops responding. I've waited as long as 15 minutes to see if it picks up again but the only way to get it to respond is to restart AX.

As far as I know nothing out of the ordinary has happened to our servers/databases and they should be able to handle the requests just fine. Are there any steps I can take to fix the issue or possibly root out certain causes?

Any other part of AX seems to work just fine although I have been hearing people say that running reports is taking longer than normal. Could this be related?

Thank you in advance for any/all assistance you might be able to provide.

    Hi Sebasshhh,

AX4 is long ago for me, but probably an application index file is corrupt.

You can try the next procedure and see if this solves the problem:

    1 - Stop AOS

2 - Go to the AX application directory and search for the file AXapd.aoi.

3 - Make a copy of this file and then delete the one in the AX appl directory

    4 - Start AOS.

The restart will rebuild this file from scratch. Probably it will solve the problem, but I'm not 100% sure...

Sorry Andre, had to reject your answer. Our admin finally got around to testing it and it ended up not solving it.

What ended up solving the issue was uninstalling the HP security suite that came along with a HP update (I work on a HP notebook). Apparently the added security programs made it so the AOT stopped functioning.

    Hi Sebasshhh,

That is OK. If it does appear the answer was not helping, but another was better, I would have done the same. Good to know about this kind of causes.

To be honest, I don't appreciate all kinds of software suites which are pre installed by e.g. HP or Dell. Only Windows as operating system should be sufficient. So when I buy a laptop, the first thing I do is installing Windows from scratch...
