Issue with developer's license

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello Team,

My Team has uploaded a license for a client recently. When some modifications need to be done on the database, we change the license to our developers license. While doing so, we are no able to modify or delete data on the standard tables

We never got this issue with the developer's license before.

Your advice will be much appreciated.

Regards

Bhavna

Have you resolved the issue ? If you upload the license to the database it will change the license in all the instances.

    Hello,

On creating a new instance with different port number, it changed the license in the live database as well.

    RE: Issue with developer's license

    Hello Bhavna,

Like other experts have said, it seems to be a service issue.

If you are running the RTC client, you need to restart the service before the license permissions are applied, and then log back in.

This of course has the issue of having to restart the service where other users are connected to. So what can we do to avoid that?

Simple, create a second instance that points to the exact same database, but of course with different ports.

Go to the development environment and make sure that the instance it is pointing is the new one. Upload the license, restart the new created instance and log into that one. The users might notice some performance impact but their work will not be stopped.

Once you are done, reupload the customer's license and stop the newly created instance. You don't need it anymore.

    Hope that helps,

It looks like a permission issue than license, make sure when you assigned permission it is not set to a specific company. Clear the company field.

Thanks Saurav and Mahesh, I would try it as soon as all the users log out of the system.

    Hi,

Have you restarted the NAV server instance after uploading the License?

    Hi Bhavana,

To me it seems issue related to RTC Client.

If you want to make changes on the data you need to either -

     > Save Developer Licence in Database.

     > Upload Developer Licensce in Database.

Once Done, Restart the NAV Service and do the data deletion that you want to do.

Once you complete your process, do upload / save the customer licensce on whatever that option you chose from above.

Once Customer Licensce is in place do restart the Service.

** Restarting service is mandatory to impact the change of licensce file.

Let me know if any issues.

    Hello,

Just confirmed with my team. The issue is that we are not able to modify data in the standard tables. the error message that we are getting is:

You do not have permissions to read the [TableName] table. Contact your system manager if you need to have your permissions changed.

We checked the license, it's indeed the developers license. The role of the user connected to the database is SUPER.

    Regards

    Bhavna

    Hi,

What issue you are facing?  Could you post the error?  What's the field number you are adding?
