My question has two parts, hopefully I can get some guidance. Important to note that at this stage I am working in the sales TRIAL environment.
1. I have extensive CRM experience however I have not used Dynamics at all. I have been given the task of setting up sales (which is the only module the business has chosen to use) and need to enter existing clients and their committed revenue, contacts, leads and opportunities, as well as set up the sales pipeline and forecasting/budgets. My initial thoughts after spending a day exploring how Dynamics works is that it has the potential to be an excellent and powerful CRM, however for a first time user that does not have a technical background - I think it's going to be difficult to customise (out of the box is not going to cut it for us) and configure to produce the set up needed. We are only a small business and I feel maybe this is too complex for us to start out with. So essentially small business wanting complex customer management and pipeline management learning from scratch - to big an ask??
2. Regarding the pipeline - all the literature I can find suggests I should be able to edit the Stage Category under settings > customization > Customise the system > option sets > stage category. Can anyone tell me if this could be due to any of the following:
- I am in a trial system and not able to access the full functionality offered in production
- it's not editable
-the trial account is not set up with the correct permissions
Essentially I have been asked to create a weighted pipeline with vastly different stages to OOB options and I need to know how achievable this is within dynamics (i'm sure it can be done - I'm not sure I'm skilled enough to build it!)
