one production order makes multiple products

hi,

tried googling about this, but couldn't find the best practice yet.

what I need to set is one raw material makes multiple products.

for example, we have 10kg of apples as raw material and after slicing and drying process we make multiple products based on weight of each slice.

10kg apple as raw material turn into,

product A - 0-10g slices

product B - 11-20g slices

product C - 21-30g slices

each product requires unique lot (batch) number and each production makes different ratio of products.

Please advise me the best practice to achieve this.

Thanks a lot.

    Hello,

Out-of-the-box, your process will require a Production BOM that call a Sub-Assembly Item for the 'Slicing and Drying" Item. Then you can add this Sub-Assembly BOM to Product A, B, and C. However, this could become very complex as you review the entire Batch and weight of the apples. You might consider looking at an APP like Vicinity Manufacturing which does this by-product processing and employs formulas to generate the by-products.

I have used them before for Food manufacturing and it met and exceeded the requirements.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
