Using MAPI in Dexterity based home-grown system

Posted on by 185

Is there a way to circumvent using MAPI in Dexterity?  A file is generated and storedin c:/dextr/send.  The email address is known generated within Dexterity.  Is there a way to access an email program from within Dexterity and send this file to the recipient (email address) from within Dexterity.  Is there some way to use the "run application" command to open an email program and automatically attach the file to the email and send it to the recipient?

Dexterity supports MAPI or Exchange Web Services natively.

I have also added Outlook via COM and SMTP via CDO in GP Power Tools.

You can either write this yourself or call the API to the GPPT email engine.

It would also be possible to get SQL to send emails but attachments might be harder.
