Real time marketing

Wondering if anyone can help me with a couple questions

1) security roles for real time marketing features? Does this come as standard with some of the existing OOTB marketing roles? I am having an issue where a user is set up in a test environment and can access the RTM workspace but is unable to link a segment for conditional formatting

2) is RTM always seperate to outbound marketing. Eg if I create a segment in RTM it won't be seen in outbound and vice versa 

3) any info on how people have found RTM vs Outbound marketing and is it ok to use both? I'm trying to work out if it is useful for us. Worth noting our organisation is a government regulator so we don't actually market products or services but use the marketing app to send mass communications to stakeholders.

    1. This comes standard for OOTB marketing roles. The Admin on the team will be able to make necessary changes to this.

    Please elaborate more on your issue

    2. Yes - we do not have portability at this point with segments. This is part of the feature roadmap but not in development yet.

    If you want to use an OM segment in RTM (or vice-versa), you will need to recreate it again.

    3. What exactly do you mean by this question? what parameters are you looking to evaluate here?

    I am the system admin, I managed to find documentation about the security roles I needed in the end so resolved that.

    It seems segments are linked between outbound and RTM after further investigation. When you go to create a new segment in RTM it forces you into outbound.

    My 3rd question was really whether anyone had found any major benefits to using RTM  - as far as I can tell it seems more aimed at using different/custom channels and enabling SMS channels etc. We don't use any of this. We use marketing to send communications to trustees and encourage compliance to their duties under legislation. So our measures of open rates etc are more about that then potential leads or anything sales related.
