Split View in Management Reporter

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 151

Hello,

When I generate a report from MR, I’d like for it to default to the regular view in Excel (on the bottom right, it’s the far left icon of the 3. The far right one changes print ranges). My default view is this weird split view that I can’t imagine  anyone would want to default to. Is there a fix  for this?

    Hello accountinguser2018,

Can you share some screenprints that illustrate your current default view and let us know why do you think that it looks strange?

Can you also let us know what you mean by regular view? Do you want to have the report opened in Excel by default?

Would be great if you could clarify.

    Many thanks and best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

Sorry - I posted on my phone previously. See attached for an example. Anytime I generate a Management Reporter report and open in Excel, it defaults to the "Page Layout" view. I'd like for it to default to "Normal" view to the immediate left of the yellow box. Any idea how to default to the Normal view?

Also, what's the quickest way to print MR reports to PDF so it's nicely formatted and can be distributed for meetings? Currently, I have to send to Excel, move the print margins around, and save as PDF. A bit more manual-intensive than I think it should be.

    Thanks, Ludwig.

    Hello accountinguser2018,

If I download and open the report in Excel then it directly opens in the normal view and not in the page layout view.

This must be a setting in your Excel.

I cannot tell you which one; if you can't find it probably try to search on the internet.

The PDF export cannot be configured automatically, you always have the additional 'turnaround' through Excel.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks for your help. I found a setting in MR under Output and Distribution that fixes this issue.

Can one automatically format reports to fit to one page in print view, prior to opening the excel file, or does this have to be done in Excel manually each time?

    Hi accountinguser2018,

In the report definitions window there is a tab called 'settings'.

At the bottom of this form you have a button 'Other..."

If you are using AX2012 you should be able to define some print settings for excel there.

In addition there is the 'output and distribution tab' where you should have an option to generate the report to a single worksheet if required.

That is what you can make use of.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks. We do have the option set to 'Shrink to page width', but when I generate the report, the margins are still on multiple pages. The latter option of generating to a single worksheet is not what we need.

I'm curious how with the 'Shrink to page width' option on, it is still extending the report onto 2 pages in the actual Excel workbook.

    Hi,

What you can try doing is specifying the column size so that your report usually fits to a single Excel site when printed.

Other than that there is not much that you can do according to my knowledge.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello,

Thank you - is this the Margins settings under Settings > Other > Page Setup? Or is there elsewhere to look?
