Sales Manager unable to merge their own contacts

Hello!

We have a customer that would like to merge duplicate contacts.

Both contacts are active, and they are both owned by the user that wants to merge them. 

The user is assigned the Sales Manager role, and I have checked that this role has "Merge" permissions.

However when importing contacts, the "Merge" button is disabled, as seen in the picture below. How do I get around this?

    Feel dumb now for even asking, but I'm leaving it here in case someone needs it at some point.

    The contacts you want to merge needs to be selected for the "Merge" button to be enabled.
