Return Sales order quantity Registration issue.

Posted on by

The user is encountering the following error message when attempting to cancel the return sales order:

/The items are Purchased, Received, or Registered. Quantity ordered cannot be reduced because there are not enough open inventory transactions with the ordered status./

Upon investigation, we identified that the user had reserved a quantity greater than the posted sales invoiced quantity. However, when we attempted to recreate the scenario in the DEV instance, the system did not allow us to reserve more quantity than the sales order invoiced quantity.

Additionally, we are facing difficulties canceling the reservation, further complicating the resolution process.

Consequently, we are unable to regenerate the scenario and troubleshoot the issue in the development environment.

    Hi,
The error indicates that the item in question is in the Purchased, Received, or Booked status and the system is preventing the order quantity from being reduced due to a lack of sufficient open inventory transactions with the Ordered status. You can check the following points:
View inventory transactions: Check inventory transactions related to the items involved in the sales order. Make sure there is an open transaction with status "Ordered".
Check quantity on hand: Verify the on-hand quantity of the relevant material. The system may prevent the order quantity from being reduced due to insufficient physical inventory.
Investigate reservation settings: In the development (DEV) instance where the issue cannot be reproduced, check for any differences in configuration or settings related to inventory reservation. This may include parameters such as batch reservation settings or quarantine management.
Also, find the link below for you, a similar error is mentioned in the link, you can check based on the discussion in the link:
