ReportReport

Hi,

Every time a user is trying to print the purchase order report to PDF. He is getting this popped up (img). and then when he tries to enter his credentials his Gp account gets locked up and SA needs to unlock it.

pastedimage1648143339635v1.png

This is happening since his password was changed for GP.

Not sure, If his old credentials are getting signed in or may be something. I am not able to resolve this issue.

If anyone can help it would be great.

Thank you

The data sources for SSRS reports, as least for those from Dynamics GP, are in the SSRS site itself, where the reports are deployed to.

If you go into the site, you'll see a 'Data Sources' folder and in there, there is usually a data source for system and company databases, such as GPSYSTEM and GPTWO.

In the Properties, it'll show a Connection String looking something like this:

        Data Source=SQLSERVERNAME;Initial Catalog=TWO;Integrated Security=True

The Data Source is the name of your SQL Server and Catalog is the name of the company database to pull data from.

You'll also see Credentials or options on how to verify users have security or permissions, such as these options:

--As the user viewing the report

     --Using the following credentials

--By prompting the user viewing the report for credentials

     --Without any credentials

You can also test the connection from the data source itself, to make sure it connects based on the option you are using.

The above are from SQL 2019, so depending on your SQL version, it may be slightly different, but pretty close to what I mentioned here.

    Thanks

    This is done in SSRS..

There is a folder called "Data Source" within the root of the location where you deployed the GP SSRS reports (which might not be the root of SSRS itself). For each GP company in that folder, there will be a Data Connection that has the setup to be used for the reports to connect to the data backend in SQL.

Out-of-the-box, the data connection will use the "Windows Authentication" credentials, but it could have been changed to use some other methods (like SQL user, or anonymous, or prompt every time).

If you're not familiar with managing SSRS, you better talk to someone that is, or take some training online..  Community forums aren't really the place to teach how to use a software if you have zero knowledge.. ;-), and mostly this is primarily a Dynamics GP forum, not for SSRS or SQL.

Hi, Thank you for the answer as Suggested by Derek. All settings are in place for the SSRS report. I am just wondering how and where to check the Data Source connections? Is it in SQL Server Management Studio Or GP? As I am a rookie in GP

In addition to what Derek already suggested, you may want to check how your Data  Source connections are made in SSRS for the various GP companies.. by default it should use Windows Authentication, but someone might have changed that and set it to something else..

Also, the fact that it's prompting a logon when accessing a report in SSRS is a sign that the user permissions to access the reports itself might have changed. Have you tried to use IE 11.x (Internet Explorer) instead of Chrome or Edge? The windows authentication works transparently with IE, but not so much with chrome-based browsers..

Tip: try to have this user access the report from another computer.. if the windows password was recently changed, this could be a "sync" issue with the domain credentials.

Hi, Thank you for the reply.

Yes It is SSRS Report. It never happened before that web page is coming up. It started when his password was changed. Will check with the solution given by you.

    RE: ReportServer Sign in error

Is this a SQL SRS report or what type of report exactly?

I'm seeing /ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx, so it seems like it's more a permissions issue for SQL Reporting Services or SharePoint or Management Reporter, depending on what type of report is being used in this example.

Usually just printing a GP report to PDF isn't going to open any type of web page that I'm aware.

If it is a SQL SRS report, there are three areas where permissions need to be given:

    1. In the SQL SRS Report Manager site, click on Site Settings > Security. Click on the 'Security' tab, and then click 'New Role Assignment' in order to assign the users/groups as a System Administrator or a System User, depending on what they need permissions to do. (If at all possible, set it up per user, not per user group, as we've seen various results when using user groups.)

    2. Also in Report Manager, click on Home > 'Folder Settings', on the Security tab, click 'New Role Assignment' and assign users/groups one or more of the roles as needed: Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder.

    3. Lastly, in SQL Server Management Studio, expand the main Security folder, then expand Logins. Find the Windows user account that you're giving access to the SQL SRS reports and right-click on it, and choose Properties.

In the Login Properties window for that Windows user, click on the 'User Mapping' page.

Here, select the DYNAMICS/system database for Dynamics GP and in the list of database roles, you'll see about a few RPT_ roles. Mark the 'rpt_all user' role, which is required for all users, and then assign the user any of the other rpt roles needed. If you want the user to have access to all SQL SRS reports and/or Excel Report data, you can assign them the 'rpt_power user' role, which is similar to the PowerUser security role in Dynamics GP.

In any of the company databases that the user needs to access SQL SRS reports from, highlight those companies as well in this Login Properties window and under the list of database roles, you'll again see a series of rpt roles for different areas, similar to the security roles in Dynamics GP. Assign the user to the rpt roles the user needs to access the SRS reports, or give the user the 'rpt_power user' role if you want them to have access to all SQL SRS report data.

Click OK and close the window to save changes.

    Let us know......

    Thanks
