Financial dimension - Parent child relationship

Dear Friends,

We have a customer requirement, where we have to define relationship between Financial Dimension:

System provides us a feature to define One parent with multiple child dimension (through Derived dimensions). However, on top of this, Ask is to define /One child can also have multiple parents/.

Scenario with two dimensions, where it is stuck:

Vertical - SubVertical

V1 - SV1

V1 - SV2

V2 - SV3

V2 - SV1

Here system will allow us to create first 3 records, but when we will try to create fourth record (through derived dimension), system will give error that SV1 is already tagged to V1.

Any possibility to achieve this as Out of box functionality (One Child to have multiple parents also) within Financial dimension.

Any guidance will be of great help.

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Kindly use the functionality of Derived Dimension. Under Derived Dimension you will have the privilege to select the same secondary dimension against multiple primary dimensions.

I don't think derived dimension is the right functionality to use in this case.

Derived Dimension functionality is meant to be used when a child always have one parent, so by entering the child, the system "knows" to automatically populate the parent, "saving" the extra step of data entry.

If your issue is around the entry of dimensions on a LEDGER ACCOUNT you can use instead the Account Structure, to create rules limiting the user to only enter "valid" combinations.

If your issue is around populating dimensions on a sub-ledger master record (customer, vendor, etc.) the best you can do is have the derived dimension populate ONE of the values, and if the user wants something else, they can manually override the value, but that's as far as the functionality goes.
    Instead, you should use
