Hi, i have tried these options but they did not work. The system has been updated to Office 2007 SP3 with the latest patches, but we still get the error, but when the user logins into a RDP Sever 2008 running Office 2010 this works fine, so it is something with Office 2007 & Nav 2009 R2

This has been a reported a couple times. Here is some information on the error:

    support.microsoft.com/.../en-us

Known issues with this security update.

When a file has the ".doc" file name extension, but the content is a plain text file or another kind of file that is not a Microsoft Word binary file, and that file is opened in Microsoft Word, you may receive the following error message up to three times before Microsoft Office Word successfully opens the file:

Word cannot start the converter mswrd632

To resolve this issue, an affected user can unregister the mswrd632 converter by editing the registry as follows:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Text Converters\Import\MSWord6.wpc

On the Edit menu, click Delete.

    Click Yes.

    Exit Registry Editor.

This change will effectively unregister the converter and disable it for third-party applications and for Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office will use its own text converters to open these kinds of files.

It is highly suggested that you export the key before deleting it (right-click on key, then Export). This way you could reimport the key, if needed.

Please test, if the deletion of the registry subkey resolve this issue in your environment.

    2nd option:

Open the registry (regedit from the command prompt) and then search it browsing for 'mswrd632.wpc'. It has happened in the past that an entry for this in windows update KB973904.

If you find this on a particular KB in the registry editor, you have to go on add/remove programs onto the Control Panel and then remove this update KB973904.

    Hope this helps out.

    Nick
