Changing the booking status to traveling and then to In Progress captures the travel TO a customer for a booking. But how to you Complete the Booking, thereby updating End Time and Work Order Completed on BUT then capture Travel back home. Our jobs are usually full day or multi day jobs, we dont normally travel directly job to job in same day. Below is what I think we would want, I just am not clear how to properly capture it.
6am Booking shows Start Time of 9am and end time of 5pm 7am User changes booking status to Traveling
Work Order Status = Scheduled
Updates Start Time = 7am
Updates End Time = 4pm
8am User changes booking status to In Progress
Booking journal type = travel is created from 7am-8am
Updates Actual Arrival Time = 8am
Updates Actual Travel Duration = 1 hour
Work Order Status = In Progress
2pm User changes booking status to Completed
Booking journal type = Working Hours is created from 8am-2pm
Updates End Time = 2pm
Work Order Status = Completed
Updates Work Order Completed On = 2pm
3pm User changes booking status to "End of Day" in other words - I made it home or to hotel
Booking journal type = Traveling is created from 2pm-3pm
No change to Work Order Status, no change to completed on date/time
End of Day should NOT alter End Time or Actual End Time
In Field Service, the booking being completed is a very specific concept that you can't really mess with. I might recommend you create a custom booking status of "Work Finished for Day" or something similar that they can change to. You can write a workflow that populates the Booking completed time for when this status is selected.
Then, when they are fully back and done, they mark it with the Out of Box "Completed" status. In your reporting, you can treat the timestamps for "Work Finished for Day" as travel time, as the assumption is that any time spent in that status prior to "Completed" is time spent travelling back home. Would that work?
