Item No change using rapid start

Posted on by 2
HI Experts!

I have to change a list of item numbers from x to y using BC16. I have about 700 item numbers that I need to revert to what they were a couple of years ago. I still want to see the data from the item number, which is why I want to give the item a new number.
I tried using RapidStart to change the numbers and put the /old/ (x) item number in the common item number field so that we would still be able to search for it.
However, when I do this, RapidStart just creates 700 new items with the new number rather than changing the existing item numbers.
Is there any way to make this change in RapidStart? Or do I need to use alternative methods? If I have to use alternative methods, which ones should I consider?

Thank you in advance!

Item No change using rapid start
    Hello,

RapidStart/Configuration and even 'Edit in Excel' function can't be used to change the item number, which is the table's primary key.
It will create new records instead of renaming.

You will need to engage a partner as it requires customization.
