Error when deactivating an account or contact

Hi,

I'm using Dynamics 365 (on-premises) and I receive an error when I want to deactivate an account or contact.

The error I receive is:

Error
An error has occurred.

Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Community for solutions or contact your organization's Microsoft Dynamics 365 Administrator. Finally, you can contact Microsoft Support.

And I'm unable to download the log file so it doesn't say much. I also looked it up online but I couldn't find anyhting. Did someone experience the same issue and how can it be resolved?

Looking forward to a reply.

Kind regards,

Fouad Kada

That's a very generic error and not very helpful, I suggest you open a ticket with Microsoft here https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/support

I was able to get a log file and it contains this:

    <html xmlns="">www.w3.org/.../xhtml"><body><parsererror style="display: block; white-space: pre; border: 2px solid #c77; padding: 0 1em 0 1em; margin: 1em; background-color: #fdd; color: black"><h3>This page contains the following errors:</h3><div style="font-family:monospace;font-size:12px">error on line 1 at column 1: Extra content at the end of the document
</div><h3>Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.</h3></parsererror></body></html>

Why would it give errors on font when I want to deactivate or delete a record?

    Hello Fouad Kada,

I would suggest if possible to check a couple of points to bring more information about the behavior, as the following:

    • Does this behavior happen for specific records or is for existent all records (Account or Contact). If you create new Accounts or Contacts does the behavior happen?

    • Do the affected records have child or related records?

    • Do the System administrators able to deactivate the records ? or happens for any org user?

    • Did you have chance to review the workflows and plug-ins,test using another forms deactivating them for both entities?

    • When the issue was noticed? after some customization or a change in the org?

    • Finally, I would suggest to review server trace logs looking for helpful.

    Best regards,

    Hi,

    To answer your questions:

    • Does this behavior happen for specific records or is for existent all records (Account or Contact). If you create new Accounts or Contacts does the behavior happen?

It doesn't only happen when I want to delete a record. It also happens when I want to create a new activity or even when I open Dynamics and it launches the landing page.

    • Do the affected records have child or related records?

No they don't have child or related record.

    • Do the System administrators able to deactivate the records ? or happens for any org user?
We're not live yet so this only happens for the system administrators.

    • Did you have chance to review the workflows and plug-ins,test using another forms deactivating them for both entities?
       Not yet, will do

    • When the issue was noticed? after some customization or a change in the org?
The environment is new, we are still making changes in forms before we go live. But this happened from the beginning.

I will also check the server logs for anything unusual. I will let you know.

    Thank you for your time!

    Kind regards,
    Fouad Kada
