I met one issue when create the asset leasing. For example one lease start at 1/1/2024 with payment as 1000, then they changed from 1/1/2025 as payment for 1100. When they calculate the present value, it's consider 1/1/2025 as the period 13th and calculate the present value instead of treat them as 1st year to calculate the present value.
As my client cases each time they change the payment, they will treate the it as the first year to calculate the present value.
Any configuration here that I can change the calculation?
In Dynamics 365 Finance – Asset Leasing, the present value calculation is based on the lease term and payment schedule. By default, when you modify a payment in a future period (e.g., increase from $1000 to $1100 in period 13), the system continues the discounting from the original lease start date. Your requirement: Recalculate the present value as if the payment change starts a new lease term (i.e., reset discounting from the change date). Solution: There is no direct configuration to reset the present value calculation from the new payment start date. However, you can achieve this by: ✅ Recommended Workaround:
Terminate the original lease effective 12/31/2024.
Create a new lease starting 1/1/2025 with the new payment terms ($1100).
The system will then treat 1/1/2025 as the start date for PV calculation, aligning with your client’s requirement.
🔒 Note: This approach maintains compliance with accounting standards and aligns with how D365 handles lease modifications vs new leases. Let me know if you need steps for lease termination and creation.
