Migrating to a new domain

Hi,

I have seen similar questions to this but cannot find the exact answer I need. I am hoping someone here will be able to help.

My company is in the process of migrating to a new domain. We are about to migrate all AD users to the new domain while our AX server remains on the old domain.

I have read that you can amend the Network user, Network domain and SID fields with values from a user in the new domain. Could this cause any problems?

An alternative we have been looking into is to Re-import all the users on the new domain. Would this affect any records or history the user worked on while using the old account?

Thanks,

    Hi Westy,

I think updating Network user, Network domain and SID should be enough, actually as far as I remember, AX uses  Network user, Network domain to get SID on user creation, so if SID is correct user should be able to login with incorrect domain and name.

    Hi ievgen,

Thanks for the reply. From what I read I thought that would be the case.

I wanted to make sure change these fields was safe before feeding this method back to the rest of the team.

    Thanks again

Don't forget that you need to update AOS service user, BC and WF users as well.
