Inventory Recalculation gives wrong figures for the items financial amount and unit cost price

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

There is a counting carried out then a recalculation for the inventory had been run over Item groups without selecting specific group. The figures of the item was not correct and adjustment had been done for most of the items to correct the cost price to be correct over site and to be the same over the breakdown on locations. After adjustment; a recalculation took place and the result that the figures got far from the correct ones set by the adjustment. The inventory value after adjustment and before recalculation equals 2,505,296,326.61 which is the right value while after recalculation gets to 2,628,991,613.11.

In which case its not a set up issue and my last suggestion is an option.

It is due to wrong data entry for the prices.

...and that raises the questions whether the original numbers were actually wrong e.g. due to wrong posting set up, or wrong data entry, and/or whether, they were not understood , or that users just did not like the numbers they saw perhaps due to the timings or sequence of bookings..

It will solve it for the time being but if there is any setup missing or something wrong; the problem will be repeated again.

You could try closing the inventory  (out of hours)

Then zero the stock and re-load it with the new values.

    Hi Andre

Actually I need some guide lines not a very specific answer. The physical value is included in the model group and also financial inventory is active over site on the dimension group for non serialized items while it is active on site and serial over the serialized group.

    Hi Marwa,

The behavior of the recalculation depends on many settings. E.g. Do you include physical values (setting on Item model group)? What dimensions are included as financial cost price? Also the transaction details are important. So probably you won't get a definite answer on this forum as it depends on many things.
