Simplified Email Issue

Hi,

I have a Dynamics Nav 2015 environment setup for testing. When I try sending a quote (or any other attachment for that matter) via email, it gives me an error.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV
---------------------------

Attachment C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default\DEMO\ADMIN\TEMP\1000 Statement 31-10-2015.pdf does not exist or can not be accessed from the program.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

SMTP is setup correctly and used the test mail feature which was successful.

I have also installed the web components.

Currently running in Windows Server 2012 R2.

Am I missing a setup somewhere in terms of saving to file locations or a permission area?

try print-->save as pdf. does it work? does it create the pdf file? save it the target temp folder.

check, if the pdf file is created at runtime (watch the temp folder).

check the folder permissions of the temp folder. for testing set read/write to everyone.

The file does create in the folder at runtime. Permissions on the folder is also correct.

is that a nav standard or is it a customized version?

could be that at runtime the pdf file is created to late when attach to mail is executed (if yes, then it would need a sleep to wait for some seconds).

is it possible to change the filename of the pdf doc to a simpler name without spaces ?

Thanks. This did not resolve the issue though. It was set correctly as standard.

what is the service account, the user, which runs the nav service ?

does this user have "full access" to folders

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default\DEMO

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default\DEMO\ADMIN

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default\DEMO\ADMIN\TEMP\ ?

does your AD user (NAV user) have "full access" to folder

    - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\80\Server\MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DYNAMICSNAV\users\default\DEMO\ADMIN\TEMP\ ?

This is due to folder permission error. What happen in this is, when u try to send the pdf file, in background dynamics NAV create a temp file in a folder. Then it attached to your email by a codeunit.

Problem is Dynamics NAV could not save the temporary file since you do not have the necessary permission. You can run the Dynamics NAV as a administrator or provide read and write access to all the users for testing purpose.

    Hi

Thank you all very much for the kind assistance.

I had checked all the permission areas as mentioned (was using an administrator user as well). Nothing seemed to have worked.

I then tried to reinstall the Web Components which brought up another error. I decided to do a fresh install on another server and it worked correctly. It is probably somethingto do with the Windows Server installation I'm guessing. if I do get to the bottom of it, I will let you all know.

    Thanks again.
