If it is enabled for transaction level then Yes change log increases the DB size due to in records.

It is recommended to setup the change log of master table and also with required fields so you can track the changes

If company policy required to track it at transaction level then you can enable it for transaction tables also.

Yes change log use lot of data space in your hard drive since it track all the changes made to your data. I do not think it is a excuse for a company to turn off change log as it will result in issues of integrity. If a company can't afford a reasonable amount to increase disk space then best option is to activate the change log for selected tables and have a scheduled cleanup (backup) of the change log entries.

    Hi Raokman

Yes Change log Increase the size of the Database in that case you have option to control it by selecting Which Tables you need to track and Which Fields you need track and what is to track like insert, modify, delete  in this way you are able to control resource usage of Change log and periodically you need to delete the change log and reduce it size.

    Thanks

    Indika.

I was told by a consultant that these Change Logs use an incredible amount of resources, which is why they're not turned on in general.

If you had not setup the Change Log for General Ledger Setup tracking, you will not be able to identify what user had made this change. It is recommended that you will restrict the access of all users to General Ledger Setup. Also, make needed settings to enable Change Log:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh169208(v=nav.90).aspx

It is also recommended to make this setup for majority of the reference tables in the system (such as Customer/Vendor cards, Item cards, Accounts, etc.) for changes/deletions (not for new creations, otherwise the log would grow very fast, full of unneeded information).

How to view Change Log Entries:

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh168329(v=nav.90).aspx

Don’t worry, similar kind of issues occurring in another companies too.

Better practice is to restrict the General Ledger Setup to common users. Also enable the Change Log Setup for the General Ledger Setup table from Dynamics NAV or by SQL.

If you are setting up Change Log setup in the Dynamics NAV, make sure to add INSERT, MODIFY permissions in the change log entry table. Otherwise you will face errors from Users not having permissions to insert the records in the Change entry table.

Were the change log been activated before the change happen? If so you will be able to track the user who did the changes to General Ledger Setup. (Link)

    * More importantly you need to assign the related user permission to restrict users from unwanted system access. It is always good to take precautionary actions, rather than looking for answers after something bad happen.

    Hi

You Screen shot is Cut some information, bu as i Explain Before from the Change Log Entries you need to Filter Based on The Table Caption Field right now you see all the the tables just filter it to the General Leger Setup Table then you will be able to see which user is Inserted, Modify & Delete record from the table only if you have selected this table in the change log setup and have selected all fields or specific fields under Insert, Modify & Delete .

    Thanks
