Do you have to have inventory to create purchase orders ?

We do not have stock but would still like to create purchase orders for other things we buy in

Can you create purchase orders without stock items

Everything I am reading is pointing to having ITEMS set up in inventory before you can create lines on purchase orders

We do not have inventory options but have all the purchase order options on our menus

Any ideas welcome

    Hi TraceB,

As far as I know, you don't have to have inventory to create a PO services etc. I believe you must have procurement categories setup and posting profiles for each one.

    Hi TraceB,

You can make use of procurment categories if you do not have items.

    Best regards,

    HI TraceB,

I just overlooked that you use AX2009 :-)

In AX2009 you do not have procurement categories available.

So, the only option in this old version is the use of items.

There is no other option available in AX2009.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks

Overlooked. tho you were using 2012. In that case I won't be able to answer the question.

    Hi TraceB,

Yes, you need to use the inventory module in AX2009. There is no other Workaround available there.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

P.S. Would be great if you could verify the answers and get this thread closed.
