Dear Experts,

Can i change item name and item number after created wrong item name and item number.Just go to its table and change it directly after making a transaction on it. For example, i created a purchase order or sales order of this item with wrong name and number.

Best Regards,

Shabir Ahmad

    Hi Shabir,

As Christoph mentioned, you can try deleting the item but if it is ordered and you already have an invent trans record this might not be possible.

Also consider other processes / things that might depend on this PO and item (reservations, planning, etc.)

In my opinion the safest 'riskfree' approach would be creating a new item.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Shabir Ahmad,

you can try to delete the purchase order. If there is no related transaction somewhere in the system like PO confirmation or workflow you are maybe allowed to delete the purchase order and item number.

If not you have to cancel the purchase order, stop the item and start from scratch by creating a new item.

    Good morning Shabir,

If you have already used the item, then you cannot delete it.

The only thing feasible is changing the names and descriptions but not the number.

If you need a different number then your only option is creating a new product.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Shabir Ahmad,

I mean if you just used the item in a sales or purchase order and there are not transaction further like confirmations you can delete these records. Because of this you can delete the item. However, if there are already inventory transactions or conformations created you cannot delete the item. So you can just Mark it as stopped to avoid using them in future. It depends what is already done with your item.

    Hi Christoph Thaler ,

You mean to say, first reverse the transaction then delete the transaction and the item number??

    Best Regards,

    Shabir Ahmad

    Hi Shabir,

If you just created the item with a typo but have not recorded a single transaction, I would delete the released product and the product and create a new one.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi

usually you can change the item name without any problem. The item number itself is something special as it is not changeable in the form after the record is saved. I suggest to delete your transaction and create a new item.
