Management Reporter Viewer

Hi,

We just upgraded to GP2013 and were using Frx and now are trying to use Management Reporter.  I have 3 reports that whenever I try to see them in the Management reporter view, I get a message that "this report contains one or more errors that prevent it from being rendered".  Where do I find the errors?  I tried looking at MR help section and followed the instructions, but I could not understand any of the text file.  Also if I turn off generate the report in the Management report viewer and have the report generate to the web, the report works.  Does anyone know why the report would work print in one source, but not the other?  and how can I understand what the error(s) are?

    Hi Laura,

    After proper migration, please make sure the Row,Column,Tree definition are same in both FRx and MR, if it differs(some times) then take a backup of MR Row,Column,Tree definition(s) and copy the FRx definition to MR definition to generate the report.

    Mahmoud,

    Our partner did the migration for us and there were some rows and columns that had issues and I corrected them.  Since I already fixed the reports, I don't want to do the migration again.

    That's the purpose of the migration plan and the validation, you are not supposed to go through lines of event logs which sometimes need technical know-how to get resolved.

    My opinion would simply be, develop a proper migration plan through the migration wizard according to the steps provided, and hopefully everything shall be fine.

    Thanks Ryan,

    I will look closer at the calculations, but thought that they all made sense; maybe I missed something.  I did get one of those application even logs, but did not understand it; I am not an IT person.

    Laura,

    One suggestion is posted here. As others have posted, it is likely a slight difference in the formatting required in Management Reporter, so a one time adjustment will need to be made.

    If you want to get more information on the error, you should get a detailed error if you open up the Application Event Log in Windows. If you see an error in Report Designer, you can check the logs on the client PC. If it is a server side generation error then someone will need to check the logs on the server.

    Hi Mahmoud,

    No errors show up in the row, column or report definitions.  Yes the report was migrated from FRX to MR through the migration wizard; I went into each row and column for each report and made corrections.  I have not done a validation; how do you one?

    Have you tried to check the report on the report designer ? Supposedly,  the report designer pops up explicit error messages when saving a row, column definition or report definition.

    Where did you get these reports from ? I would suppose they have been migrated from FRX to MR through the migration wizard. In case you have done so, have you considered to validate and migrate selected reports ?
