Restore Business Central Backup outside 28 days retention period

I have a situation where my client has a custom Visual Studio code developed extension. Recently the extension was gone along with its extension data. The problem is it is already out of the retention period of 28 days.

Are there any way to recover the Backup in Microsoft Business Central SaaS outside the retention period?

I believe you need to contact your BC Partner, or Microsoft directly via the Power Platform admin center Support Request option: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/support/requests

Unfortunately, in Business Central SaaS, once the 28-day retention period has passed, Microsoft does not provide a way to recover extension data or the backup.
    The only available options are:
    > Partner/Customer-Managed Backup: If you had previously set up Azure SQL Database export or used a 3rd-party backup solution, you can restore from there.
    > Re-Deployment & Manual Data Recreation: If no backup exists, you would need to redeploy the extension package (if available) and manually reimport/recreate data from any offline copies (Excel exports, reports, etc.).
    > Microsoft Support: You can raise a support ticket with Microsoft, but if it’s beyond 28 days, they will confirm that recovery is no longer possible on SaaS environments.

    Thanks

You need to contact your BC Partner as soon as possible who will then talk with Microsoft Support with all the details. The sooner you get in touch with Microsoft support the easier it is going to be for you to restore

    Hello,

Once the 28-day retention is over, Microsoft cannot recover deleted Business Central SaaS environments or extension data, backups are permanently removed.
Only restore points within the 28-day window are available.
Tip: Set up regular external exports or API backups to protect key data in the future.

    Hi,

As per my knowledge, no, it is not possible to recover a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS environment or its data beyond the 28-day retention period.
Administrators can restore an environment to any point within that 28-day window via the Business Central Admin Center, but restoration beyond 28 days is not supported.

According to official documentation and widely accepted practice for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS, once the 28-day backup retention period has passed you cannot restore using Microsoft’s built-in system backups. It may be useful to raise a support ticket with Microsoft.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, no, Microsoft does not provide a way to recover environments or data outside the 28-day retention window in Business Central SaaS.

If the extension source code was deployed from VS Code, you should still have the original .app or repository — only the data tied to the extension tables is irrecoverable once outside retention.

As other experts suggested, you can raise a support ticket to Microsoft.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, this is not possible.
However, you can submit a SR to Microsoft and see if they can process it in the background.

    Thanks.
