Using PSTL to copy company

Posted on by 75,730

When using the PSTL to create a new company and copy from one company to another, does it simply copy only the master information? We do not want it copying any transactions.

I don't have experience with this specific scenario, but I think you would do the PSTL Copy Company routine and then immediately change the currency information.  (You may have to change the currency in Setup windows and in cards - like the Checkbook - before you get the currency completely switched over.)

Normal disclaimers:  Have a backup from before copying and before changing currency.  Run Check Links on multi-currency before and again after changes to make certain all is clean.

Can you tell me if or how Company copy would work if the Currency needed to be different between the companies being copied?

    Hi Richard,

    Glad we can help!

Also, Lisa's recommendation is a great item to remember, since we pull over those values as well.

    Have a great week!

Richard - After you copy the company, double check Next Numbers in the setup window if you want them to restart.  (I think GL Setup is the most common one I need to reset ...)

    Hey Richard,

We have a listing of tables which you can find here:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../profservicestoolslibrary

I don't see any transaction tables, but this list should confirm what data is going to move over.

These tables seem to be pretty identical to the setup tables we usually recommend moving manually:
