Hi! I am absolutely desperate and would sincerely appreciated any help that you can provide to me regarding the referenced error. I am not sure if I set-up my Econnect correctly or what? I have admin rights on our server which is owned by a 3rd party company that is suppose to provide a service... but I can't seem to ever get an answer from them... I mean EVER! We are such a small company and I am sure they have bigger fish to fry! So, me and a young man that is currently interning and reporting to me, have tried everything out there on Google for a week now, and can't resolve. In summary, we purchased an add-in called "Excel to GP" because it was so much cheaper than using I think it's called integration manager with is around 5,000 per user. I purchased and tested this add-in which requires us to install Econnect and life was perfect. I am at the point now where I need to pass off some major reverse-rebooks, and all the sudden, I am getting the message above. This add-in is from a company called Datamill, and they have been so very helpful to us and would recommend them to anyone out there. Our representative from Datamill tried to see what was changed or what our 3rd party server company did for about a day, and couldn't figure it out either. So....please.... help me! I am pulling my hair out!
Kristy
HI Kristy,
As others already mentioned, this is rather hard to assist with when other elements outside of GP start playing into the game..
I presume you're talking about his add-on ? datamillsoftware.com/.../4223e96c-d8d7-45df-9c9d-5c8d7f17791d
it's not so much about the product itself, as many integration tools rely on the eConnect to send data to GP..
This thread focuses on the exact question how to setup eConnect and there is a link to a download guide
community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-install-econnect-in-microsoft-dynamics-gp-2013
The guide itself should already be installed in your GP folder as a PDF file..
As for the domain account, it's important that whoever manages your domain credentials makes sure that this 'service' account for eConnect has the option to never expire the password enabled, as if that happens, then your eConnect will simply stop authenticating with the SQL server and stop processing data.
Send me a PM if you need assistance with that setup and your IT provider isn't responsive.. Forums are usually not the place for Emergencies, but sometimes it's the last place to ask for help :-)
It isn't an error we see frequently, and with so many third party products in place, it's hard to say really short of ruling them out to determine which is causing the error.
That being said, from what I could find that would cause this type of message are:
>>Firewall blocking ports that Active Directory and SQL Server use to communicate.
>>For eConnect for Dynamics GP, I know the service account running the eConnect service(s) should be a domain user account if eConnect is on a different server than the SQL Server, it also needs to be assigned the DYNGRP role for all GP databases. I've also seen a couple forums mention adding this account as a local administrator and restarting the eConnect service(s), to test connection type issues as this.
If the error is coming when attempting to use a third party product such as Datamill that you mentioned, or another, you may be best served to keep trying to contact them, and then hopefully others in this forum community may have experience with these products/add-ins as well and can give additional information.
Thanks
Thank you so very much for responding. That was one of the first things I checked last week, and then just now, and it's running.
I would check the domain account that is running the eConnect service. Did this get changed?
Type services in the W10 search box and then look for the eConnect service. Is this account valid any more? Did the domain change?
