Manage cost price field in Released product

In Release product, we have a tab called manage cost and we can enter the price there.

When does Ax use this field if we set an item as moving average ?

 

For moving average price, does the price varies from purchase price from PO ?

If so, what is the purpose of this field ??

    Hi Dsin,

    This field is used when you are entering lines in Inventory journals and the quantity is increasing the on-hand.

    Hi dsin,

    If you're using an actual costing method, AX will use the 'Price' on the 'Manage costs' fast tab if it does not have enough information to be able to calculate a cost price for an inventory issue.

    Moving average will update on the invoicing of the PO, up until this point if you accrue for receipts and post to the ledger it will use the price in the manage costs (one reason the decision on update is important). I believe if you create a new item, set the manage cost price to 0 and then load a purchase order for $100 you will see the creditors hit for the $100 but the cost of the inventory at that point, and the moving average will be 0. 

    That said when it is moving there are other impacts once you have multiple entries, so not really played with moving average that much, but that is one simple example at setup.
