AX 2009 Report scaling issue.

Hi,

Recently users are moved from old citrix farm to new citrix farm and they are accessing ax report from there.

When they open original invoice in PSA module, it throws popup message of scaling to 99%.  This is not happening when i connect to AOS server from remotely and open AX client there and run the report.

This is not a big issue. The main issue is, this preview looks fine. but when user tries to save the report to .PDF file, it doesn't look the way preview looks. some information is missing and not showing at all in 1 page PDF file.

This is not happening when i generate the report from AOS server directly or any other server where AX client is installed. I believe this issue is with new Citrix Farm only.

Has anyone faced this before? any hints would be appreciated. Thanks.

does AX uses default printer settings to print the PDF? if yes, I believe this could be the only reason why it is behaving like this when accessed from citrix Farm.

What i come to know from citrix people is that Citrix farm uses printer setting from the end user's desktop machine and passes it to AX. I am not sure whether it's true or not.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Iamv,

if you printing to a client printer using redirected ica(Citrix) or rdp(MS) printer redirection this seems to be true theoretically, but printer redirection over the virtual rdp or ica channel is a really awkward topic (it can lead, but doesn't have to, to strange rendering if different operation systems between ica/rdp client and the ica/rdp server are in use - thats the normal case) and the printer driving matching does not work 100%.

I've seen similar things which we can circumvent using some workaround - which only works in a inhouse network (same domain), where the clients can be acceses via standard network functinality.

We activated 'clients can use AOS printers' (on both sides - AOS and client config) - a really really useful thing - but only in 2009 - 2012 SSRS engine ignores (have to) this.

Then we created a 'local' printer on the AOS server (can be seen by all users on the AOS server itself). After that we redirected the local port to the shared printer client queue.

    printing  reports using:

1st) the redirected ica/rdp client printer and

2nd) the "local" redirected server printer

led to different results in the outcome.

If you are not able (due to outside clients) to use the 'server printing' you have to use use the rdp/ica printer redirection feature over the virtual channel. In that case you can 'play' with the installed printer driver on the server. Try another. Maybe there a some issues in transferring the client side standard/extended printer document settings to the driver used on the rdp/ica server.

If you use the 2nd version you have to login as AOS service user locally on the AOS server itself and set up correct default settings for the document on that server (size, ...). This will work for all users. Your clients must give the AOS service account access to the created printer share in that case.

    regards and happy hunting

    Douglas
