Hi LA,
You are right. The Wizard can't identify Environments, otherwise SDK control require select the Environment. My default Environment not hold the D365, so I think the Wizard only point to this default Env.

When setting up the connection use the SDK control option rather than the Wizard.

Please make sure you've checked the below points:
Username or password is incorrect
Discovery or Organization URL is incorrect
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Enabled
Different TLS Protocol
Time difference between your machine and the CRM server
The user does not have enough privileges
Firewall Ports Not Open
Windows Identity Foundation
CRM Webservice is not started due to low memory on the server
