MES Problems with duplicate job card journals

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 804

We are still struggling with almost identical job card journals being created by shop floor. To debug this we have added the create and modify fields to the related tables showing where the problem was happening.

This is the scenario we are seeing:

At 9:45:22 A job card journal is created by shop floor with a good quantity of 25 for the operation and no time reported. 12:am to 12:am. This does not post.

At 9:46:02 40 seconds later another job card journal is created with a good quantity of 25 and substantial process time. This does post.

Same operation, same process, same job, same operator. The only differences we can see are the lack of time reported and the journal number (they differ by 4). Both set operation and job completed but do not do a report as finished. If this was posted the operation would have twice the quantity that was actually completed.

Any hints as to what is going on? MES has many hotfixes in R3 and we are at CU8. None of the fixes talk about this problem if they really reference anything. It is as if the code is torn between separating the time and quantity postings but leave them together in one journal and only report the good quantity in another.

Can you share your Manufacturing execution setup for production control?

Need start, operation and report as finish panes...

Here are the settings. Note the problem is seemingly random running from 2 duplicates to 7 duplicates with the main differences being posted vs not posted (the dups) and the lack of time on the dups. For awhile we thought it related to references and standard marking but we have stopped using those since they are painful anyway. We also suspect bundling but have not been able to duplicate it in test.

On Start: Change "Automatic route consumption" to Never

    Frederik,

Thanks for the response. Not sure I see how that would fix the issue. The pick lists for the order look fine. The only route card journal posted was done by the office staff to do a final RAF and close the operations not posting any time later that afternoon. The RAF journals are fine as well. Below is a snip of the Job Card Journals. The one with the text changed to delete is a result of a job I have to interrogate the order and flag the unposted journals that are duplicates (ie would double post good quantities at operations). The bad job card had quantity but no time, the good posted one had time and quantity. In 2009 these always posted separately, time in one quantity in the other, which makes me think this is still a code problem.

    Thanks

What happened at the times when the job cards are posted? Did they do feedback on the job?

    Hello again,

I'm not sure why you refer to the picking list... I referred to the Automatic route consumption.

If the operation is related to a route group that is set at "start" it will be posted each time you start the order.

Also it refers to a route card and not a job card. Try changing it to a job journal.

I am confused as to why you mention Route Card settings as an issue when the problem is with Job Card Journals duplicated on operations posting. They are different items. On the order mentioned we did not get a Route Card Journal until the order was RAFed by the production staff.

Here is the general detail on the two Job Card Journals. They were created 40 seconds apart.

First one did not post (bad)

    Second one did post (good)

The only other anomaly I see is that prior to this an operator on Operation 40 completed setup which technically is out of order but possible given the nature of the two operations.

    What build are you on?
