SQL License Epired in AX7 RTW

Hi All,

We are using a AX7 RTW VM that was using the template provided by Microsoft.

Now our SQL license got expired.It was at SQL CTP3 version.

Now i upgraded to SQL enterprise by using the Enterprise setup downloaded from msdn site as in the below blog.

Even after upgrading , SQL services are not starting up. and the error is same "

Error: 17051, Severity: 16, State: 1.

SQL Server evaluation period has expired.

Can any one suggest on how to overcome the issue?

As per this post, you need to install a valid license purchased from Microsoft, please check with your Partner Account Manager:

Hi Vilmos,

Thanks for your reply.

I have valid "Visual Studio Enterprise with MSDN " subscription and i have downloaded the SQL 2016 Enterprise x64 edition. And i have done the upgrade as well.

But still the same error.

Any idea what could be the reason?

If you did not provide the license, it would still stay as the old one. I think it is in the SQL master/msdb itself.

Try to apply the new license you have purchased using the following method:

I went to the SQL installation center and followed the steps that are given in the link, after entering the valid license from MSDN site , it gives me the below error.

Can you suggest where i'm missing exactly?

The CTP edition is a test version of SQL, while the one you have is a final release. Maybe you could just install the Enterprise edition side-by-side as a new SQL Server Instance with your key, then attach the AX databases there. Then change the AX Server Configuration to point to the new SQL instance.

I have no other suggestions on how to obtain a valid key for the CTP-version unfortunately.

Hi Aravind Reddy !

I also faced this issue 3 days ago, i also upgraded it but it didn't solve my problem. So what i simply did is, I set my VM's time to 1st july 2016, and then i manually restarted SQL services and the services started, then again i set the time and date to latest time and it is working fine for me till now :)

(If you reboot your VM then you will have to perform this trick again)
