Change of Server Time - Navision 2013

The time of the Nav server is not correct. When we try to change it locally, the server fails and so the clients connection.

PS: The time of the domain controller server isn't also correct, the Nav is synchronizing the time of the AD server.

-> We are wonderring if the time's change in AD Server will impacts the Nav server running

Additionally to what the other experts have already mentioned, you can define NAV server to base itself on a different time zone or a specific one.
In order to do so, you can go to the administration of the NAV instance and change the parameter "Services Default TimeZone".

If you are running an older version of NAV you might have to go to the config file for the service and look for the parameter there.

Of course after this modification a service restart is necessary :-)

    Thanks Alex for your response.

In fact that's what we have done yestorday (after business time). we set Domain controller synchronizing from external source and we do a resync to all servers and some clients to test. Then we test access to Navision Server and no problem was detected :)

Faten, first of all you should correct time of that server which doesn't have correct time after that you should check the time of your client machines if doesn't have correct time and you can set time for all domain machine through group policy with help of below link.

Hello, yes all of your desktop computers and all of your member servers look to the domain controller for the time. The Primary Domain Controller (PDC) becomes the default time source for the domain, and there will be many problems for security, encryption, and connectivity if your time settings are incorrect.

You need to have your Systems Administrator configure the Primary Domain Controller to get the correct time, and then make sure your other machines are set to get their time from your PDC.

Here are a couple links that should help, but google this regarding your version of Server:

each & every table read & write by user and that date & time information server update in with the help of Nav service into your database.

If you have still any doubt create a test environment and test it.

    Good Luck!

you are thinking that if you change the time of server then it will reflect on your database but again i want to clear one thing that you are using nav server to access your database by client if client suppose a have 24 June 2015 10:14 AM and try to made a transaction through nav server that time client use that nav service with its machine date & time not server date & time and insert the same data into database.

Example: If you post an entry in back date then your server insert that entry into your database with same date not server date & time. It will use always client machine date & time because you are using it through CAL (client access license).

Is there any doubt you want to clear?
