How is the backup data of Dynamic CRM protected from ransomware attack?

Hi,

How is the backup data of Dynamic CRM protected from ransomware attack? I cannot find any Microsoft online document mentioned that. The only info is Microsoft 365, not Dynamic, although they both use the PowerPlatorm to manage backup and restore.

Hey Phil!

on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/backup-restore-environments it's stated that the underlying technology for DB on Dynamics is Azure SQL Database. Perhaps, the information you're searching for can be checked there.

I do not think Microsoft explicitly identifies how Dynamics data is protected from a ransomware attack. We use CE and FinOps platforms and have invested in backup solutions that store the data in "air gapped" immutable storage. I use quotes because there is really no practical way to create air gapped backups anymore with the cloud, but immutable storage with very strong admin controls comes close.

For Office 365, Microsoft does recommend that each customer make and preserve independent backups. I do not see why this would be different for Dynamics.
