How to update Created on field - the system field?

Hi,

I am using MS Dynamics 365 version 1612 (8.2.2) on-premises, we know that the "Created On" in most models are system generated field, user can not modify it.

But my client asks to modify it to some back of date for some records, I have done some searches from the internet, it seems it is possible.

I found this video which shows me how to edit it and followed it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brWeeK1tve0

this is what I did:

1. Created a personal view to list some records I want to update the data of  "Created On" field back to past date (2009-02-10)

2. Export the data to Excel and added new column called: OverriddenCreatedOn (some other posts also mentioned I can call it RecordCreatedOn), and entered date of "2009-02-10" and saved it as excel file to my local machine.

3. Closed the personal view

4. Reopen this personal view, and import the previous excel file, I can see the "OverriddenCreatedOn" is not mapped, I should map it to Created On field, but I can not field the Created On field on the right side.

Can  anybody tell me what is wrong with it? Does this work on the old version of CRM, and it is not working with new version CRM I am using right now?

Thanks a lot,

Peter

Unfortunately I have nothing to add. It should work but it doesn't and that's weird.

    Hi Andrew,

Good news, finally the problem is resolved, just like you said, the plugin codes is correct, the Plugin registration process was correct. The only problem is the version of .NET class library I wrote, the CRM on-premise my company used needs .NET framework 4.5.2, but I was using the newest 4.8 version which caused the problem.

Again, thank you so much for your help, much appreciated,

I am sure that I will have some more questions need you help as I am just starting the CRM programing from now.

    Have a great day,

    Peter

    Thanks

HI Bipin, thanks a lot, actually, I have read that article and checked that I have that permission, since this is on-premise sandbox environment, I can set any permission I want.

Your code and registration parameters look good. Do you populate that "dnd_pid_createddate" field when you create the record?

    [/quote]

Hi Andrew, Yes, please find the populated field in the following screenshot, this is the record after saved. When I create a New record, that field labeled with pid_created_Date is blank, so I on purpose entered a past date 10/16/2019 and expected the Created On field is saved on that date, but it is still saved current today's date.
