Run report across legal entities

Hi Friends,

We want to run a report like Vendor Aging report across legal entities.

What's the best way to do it? Is it going to be a performance issue if there are lots of entities?

Regards,

River

    • In order to run any report across Legal entities, Report’s Query should be executed CrossCompany wise.

    • You can go to Query of report and set AllowCrossCompany = Yes

    • Under normal circumstances there will be no issue of performance, but if there is larger/ huge data, that may play certain role in performance.

    Hi Sohaib,

Basically, we have a check box to decide run all legal entities or not, and we also have to show legal entities in report, so we need to modify the query to join with entity table.

What's best way to do it?

    Thanks,

    River

Enable the query to allow cross company will work for reports which are simple.

This comes with user-role and legal entity mapping .

So Sysquery form can also find what are the legal entities that the current user has access.

But Vendor ageing , if you want to make it cross company, if you use some version beyond Ax 6.2 Cu7 the chances of impacting the client ageing and client account statement are very high. Its not straight forward query cross company enabling. It involves in good deal of code modification.

    venkatesh vadlamani, you are right,

As we know these sort of reports are using temptable and are brining data after certain processing, which is not straightforward, as just to change query to run across corssscompany. So need of code modification is possible, depending upon how it’s being managed in its DP and other classes which are responsible to fill data in temp table

    Hi Sohaib,

First, I need to add a check box for running across entities, in the parameter form, it's SysOperationTemplateForm, how do you add a checkbox in this form?

    Thanks,

    River

Checkboxs and/or Parameters are added in Contract Class.

Usually each report has a contract class. For your vendor againg report name of contract Class is

    VendAgingReportContract

What version of AX?  2012 R2?  2012 R3?  The report was re-designed by Microsoft in R3, but I have done this for R2 and could post the code modifications to get it done.  Let me know.

Thanks, It's AX 2012R2. I added parameter based on the link Sohaib gave.

Now, I need to know where/how to modify the query to get all legal entities.

Man you should not waste time in adding new parameter to run a report across legal multiple legal entities.

    • As you will change property of query to Yes, for running it across legal entities, you would be able to filter report, for any needed legal entities, This is standard AX behavior

    Hi Sohaib,

Requirement is to add the checkbox, so user can pick to run cross legal entities or just current.

And, if it's checked, report should also show the entity for each vendor.

BTW, how do you get to this place. Sorry, new to AX, lot to learn.

    Thanks,

    River
