Currency Error Message with Management Reporter 2012

We just installed Management Reporter 2012 and whenever we try to generate a report it fails and we receive the following message in the event viewer: "...Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.DataProvider.Core.RequestException: The source system request did not complete successfully. ---> Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.DataProvider.Core.ValidationException: One functional currency code must be defined. Correct the data to define a functional currency code for the provider."

I have verfied that the currency is setup correct, but not sure why I keep receiving this message.  Also if I try to open a column definition, I receive an error message stating "The operation could not be completed due to a problem in the data provider framework." I click ok to that error message and the application errors out and closes.  Any ideas?

    Go to Setup >> Financial >> Multicurrency and make sure a functional currency exists.  Also, make sure you can see it in the lookup window.

    Hello, I don't see in your post which version of Dynamics AX you are using, but Microsoft has provided the following response via a related support ticket:

    "This is an active bug #855869: Designer crashes with Functional currency error when Secondary Currency is not enabled in AX with AX 2009 and Management Reporter.  

    To work around this issue please insure that the Secondary Currency is selected for all Dynamics AX Companies .  Then try opening a column again, this change should take effect immediately since the Legacy Provider integration is being used.  Otherwise you may need to restart the two MR services and re-launch the Report Designer.

    As a side note, please take a backup of the AX database prior to enabling the option."
