Add Beneficiaries and percentage splits to plans?

Posted on by 60

Hi all,

my customer operates pay outs for when employees die in the field via death in service benefit plans. For this, they want to be able to assign employees' beneficiaries to the plans and record percentage splits.

So, for example, an employee has three beneficiaries. The customer wants two of them to be designated for the death in service plan, and they should each be designated as splitting the payout 50/50.

Is this something we can achieve in the standard product, or should I create a custom field on the Beneficiary / Personal contact page to hold the split?

    Hi,

I didn't think it through, and I'm sorry for that. Sytse Korts is right.

I found that the steps in the previous AX documentation also apply to D365FO.

Hi, you CAN add beneficiaries to benefit plans in the current product - no custom field needed. Add beneficiaries as part of configuration and ensure the workers you are testing with have some personal contacts marked as such. You'll see an additional tab for beneficiaries will appear when looking at enrolment in Benefits management.

It's a very cumbersome and unintuitive process, my customers have been complaining about it a lot!

Sorry to reply late. I think the percentage for the beneficiaries should be a custom field in D365F&O.

Thank you Charlotte, we are using D365 for HR merged in F&O. That must be a custom field then? If so, thank you for your answer, I will mark it as verified :-)

If you are currently using Dynamics AX, then you can type the percentage of the benefit to designate to the beneficiary directly.

For specific steps, please refer to the following documentation:

Enroll and remove benefits for workers | Microsoft Docs

Otherwise, you need to customize the field.

Hi Charlotte, thank you for your reply! Do you have a screenshot of where I could find these percentages for the beneficiaries? The fields don't show up on personal contacts, is there something I must enable first in the parameters to accommodate these? This customer is not using Benefits self service. Could the HR team add the beneficiaries and the splits to the plan enrolments somehow?

    Hi Betty Jameson

You can set up a benefit plan. If the plan has beneficiaries, you can have beneficiaries designated in the personal contacts and they will have a percentage assigned to them.

    Best Regards,

    Charlotte
