What I have observed under the online users, that when any user logs into D365 F&O, it shows multiple sessions running by that user, min 3 times for sure but it keeps adding by the factor of 3.

I can understand if user duplicates the sessions and have multi tabs open but how in case of just one tab, one login but not 3 sessions.

is that by the design?

Hi,

Please check if they are not using multiple windows or system like mobile, tablet and laptop. Also it could be Background Processes and Worker Sessions

Hi Syrus,

Having multiple sessions per user is by design. In AX2012 it was more clear what session was used as user client session and worker sessions like processing batch jobs or running SSRS reports. Today, I logged in and opened a few pages. After that there are 5 sessions for my user. In another environment I have two sessions open. It divides the workload somehow as part of the architecture, but there is hardly any information available about this.

At least, it will not influence the license requirements for the user as the license is named based and not based on the number of sessions.
