How to rename VAT to GST in all tables, fields, forms etc

Posted on by 255

Hi,

My NAV 2016 license is W1 and the default configuration is VAT.

I need to change that to GST all across the NAV.

Any guidance?

    Both produce almost same result.

I would still prefer to use Change Caption (due to Multi Language scenario / standardization) instead of using Rename option.

And in MenuSuite, I should do the same (Edit 'Caption') so that the Navigation Pane will show GST instead of VAT?

What is the different between 'Rename' in the MenuSuite as compared to changing the 'Caption' to GST?

Both steps will produce same result, as sighted in the Navigation Pane.

    Hi,

You can go to individual tables > fields and change the caption.  Refer below screen shot.

    Hope this helps.

Open your table with development environment  and change the caption of required field.

I know how to get to tables but I don't understand what do you mean by changing the caption of those fields.

Appreciate if you can share some screenshots or more detailed info.

    Thanks Suresh.

By doing text replace is dangerous becuase it also changes all codeunit names, function names, variable names....... i recommend you to get your country specific version NAV or if you know the tables then just change the caption of those fields  and it should reflect in your pages.

You can export all the object into text files.

Use replace all option in notepad and search VAT one by one and replace with GST wherever applicable.

Save this text file and import it back to NaV. Compile all the objects and you are done.

You may also check the country specific localised database if available.

    Hope this helps.
