Manual duplicate detection with checkbox

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I have the following requirement:

We have duplicates in our CRM, because we are getting our contact data from ERP. I know, duplicates are to be avoided but right now I have to deal with it. Now, I need to mark my duplicates somehow but I cannot use the out of the box duplicate detection. It would mess with the ERP interface, sind ERP has duplicates.

Can I use a flow or calculated field or some other customization that marks potential duplicates with a boolean field or somehow else? Any ideas?

Entiity: Contact

Fields to check: fullname and emailaddress1

I know that this design is kind of a workaround of a workaround and not ideal. Hope someone has an idea since i ran out ...

thanks in advance, Claudia

    Thanks for the tip.

I made a checkbox and with the deduplicator I know the duplicates. It's not perfekt but it works for now.

    Hi,

In regards to your concern, you will use plug in to mark duplicate records, on creation/update of records in CRM.

Refer below links to define plug in:

    I hope it helps,

    Thanks.

    Hi,

There are three ways we can achieve this,

    1. Create Duplicate Detection Rule

    2. Or you can write Javascript and Block it

    3. Else you can write Plugins to Achive the same

    Hi claudiarosina,

Maybe you can try to use one xrmtoolbox--Deduplicator

    Deduplicator  · XrmToolBox

You can export duplicate records from the tool, then use one custom column to make them ans import these records to the CRM.

    Hi,

You could write plugin code to implement your requirement.

Instead of throwing an error you should set your bool field value to yes in plugin code.
