ReportReport
Posted on by 5
Hi all.

i'm getting the excel file exported from ssrs report not organized well ( there are merged cells, empty cells, maybe very small cell size or compressed)

is there a way to just export the data organized?

thank you in advance.

Which D365 product are you using? The D365 brand covers quite a few things, such as Finance and Operations, Business Central or Customer Engagement.

Looking at the labels of the columns, I think it is about Dynamics 365 F&O. Please confirm, so we can move the question to the correct forum. You haven't mentioned the menu path where you openend the report, so we don't know if this is a standard or custom report.

You can't set format properties for Excel export, but you can analyse the current outcome and see if you can restructure the SSRS report design to get a slightly better result. Using the next page, you can learn more about the export option from SSRS. Export a paginated report to Microsoft Excel (Report Builder) - Microsoft Report Builder & Power BI Report Builder | Microsoft Learn

You can also use other options, like exporting data or create a custom export option that can be started from within the application.

Moved from Integration, Dataverse, and general topics forum to Finance | Project Operations, Human Resources, AX, GP, SL forum.

You can't really control from F&O how SSRS converts the report to Excel. If you want a particular format, you have better tools for the task, such as creating an electronic report or using a template for Open in Excel.

    Hi,
Your question is more of an SSRS question and you can see people have been discussing it. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41965417/merged-or-blank-columns-when-exporting-report-to-excel-in-ssrs-2008

check the left property of each object/textbox and make sure the width is the same as well for the objects

The issue was in the design (i.e aligning the cells)

When you export to Excel, it tries to honor your layout and make things look the same as they were when you designed it. To get rid of the first column, make sure your table is aligned to the left of the report. In the table properties, you can check the Location measurements to make sure it is 0.

That is happening because of other elements on your report such as a header textbox etc. Make sure that the edges of your other items line up with the edges of your cells in this table to avoid those extra columns. When you drag the edge of a cell you should get a blue line when it snaps to other objects. If that doesn't work, sometimes you have to resort to calculating the exact positions and set the Width values manually.

    thank you.
