AX2012 upgrade to D365FO : Data upgrade

Hello Team,

We are have customer who wants to upgrade from AX2012 R3 to D365FO. Database size is 145 GB. Within the team we are debating, apart from data,  which approach is better between re-implementation and an Upgrade? how much effort roughly is required for data upgrade once the code upgrade has been done? Our team has had a bad experience with data upgrade before as we encountered many errors. What do you suggest ? Are there any known issue with data upgrade that we should be aware of?
