Programmatically generate a Work Order from an Opportunity

Hi everyone

I would like to automate the function that sits behind the "Convert to Work Order" button on an opportunity using Power Automate or a classic workflow.

It is available as Unbound Action in Power Automate or Perform Action in the classic workflow designer. However, it requires an input parameter of type "string" - not sure what that would be. I've tried populating it with the GUID of the opportunity as well as the Dynamic URL value - no luck though.

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks

Rean

prof711  I open the Developer Tool on the web browser before pressing the button to convert to work order so I navigated to the network to see which requests were made.

You can see the parameters there too.

Gabriel Dias Junckes how did you see what action had been called and the required values for the input parameters? I'm sure there are many situations where it's good to see this info!

    Hi.

The button calls this action: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/web-api/msdyn_fieldservicesystemaction?view=dataverse-latest

    /api/data/v9.0/msdyn_FieldServiceSystemAction

It is for internal use only so I don't recommend modifying it. However, you could add a Power Automatate on the Work Order creation when the opportunity field contains data.
