Adding an Additional Portal for Dynamics 365

Posted on by 155

Hi

A client is trying to add a second portal so they have one linked to production and one linked to their sandbox environment in Dynamics 365. In conversations with Microsoft, they have been told that a second portal needs to be on another tenant, meaning that we'll need to migrate the sandbox environment, and also purchase addiotnal licences for this.

Is this the case, or is there a way to have a second portal on a Dynamics 365 tenant. The cleint will be using the Plan1 Apps on D365.

Thanks
Haseet

In the Office 365 Admin Centre, use the sidebar menu on the left to select "Billing", then "Purchase Services".

The Service that you require is "Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition - Additional Portal".

There are lots of Services to sift through to find it - Quickest way is to search the web page and find the word "portal".

    Hi Scott

Thank you for your help with this, I hadn't purchased the second portal add-on, so that'll explain one part of the problem. The second part is I cannot see the ability to purchase on an extra instance of a portal subscription from the Office Admin Centre, I've checked on two separate instances.

Again, where am I going wrong?

Really appreciate your help with this, thank you,

    Haseet

    Hi Haseet,

Once you have purchased another portal add-on it should appear waiting to be configured. Have you purchased the additional portal add on?

Hi Scott, Thanks for the reply, this process lets me create the first instance, after this has been done, I'm able to manage it and update the Dyn 365 instance, add SSL, update the portal to work with PSA and field service, but I cannot see an action that let's me add a new portal that I can use as a sandbox alongside my sandbox Dyn365 instance.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Thanks

Yes -you can have multiple portals in a single Tenant - you will need to purchase an additional portal add on and then configure it in the Applications part of the Dynamics Admin Center. www.microsoft.com/.../create-portals.aspx
