Received EMail inline images not showing up

Hi there,

since a few ago when the new update for Dynamics 365 was rolled out we noticed that received emails that we synchronize into CRM are no longer attaching images as attachments to the email record.

They are now showing as inline icon inside the description of the email but the actual image is not showing up.

Like this:

If a user clicks reply (inside CRM) it will create a new email with a copy of the received email text and here it will show the inline images.

Is this a bug?

Many Regards

Marcel

RE: Received EMail inline images not showing up

    Hello,

it seems like with every Majore Release, the OrgDbSettings are reset, I just discovered that the value was set to 3 instead of 1 for the following setting:

    SecuritySettingForEmail

1: Display a Warning Message And give an option to open

2: Display a Warning Message and do not give an option to open

3: Do not display a Warning Message and do not give any option to open.

    Best regards,

    Philipp

    Hi again,

so it looks like the text is hidden on the form while I can see it in the inspector. I guess it could be due our customization of the form.

Instead of reverting our changes we are using the enhanced form that will show the images inline which was our inital requirement.

    Thanks for the useful answers!

    Best wishes

    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,

Here is Email form in my Customer Service Hub:

    3288.JPG

It seems that you had added some customization to the default Email form? I didn't see Subject, Addtional and System Data sections in Email form of my environment.

From your latest screenshot(the first), it looks like some text are hidden due to width of Description section,

could you check whether more text was hidden due to width limitation with inspector?

If you could find more text, then increase the width out description section or set Email form layout to one column.

Apart from this, "ActivityEditorControl" would be the reason that images can display directly inline, but the control is only available in Enhanced Email form,

so we couldn't add it to other forms.

    Regards,

    Clofly

    Hi again Clofly,

i am working with the customer service hub. Here is a full screenshot. In the last screenshot I was scrolling to the right to look if there was any sign of the link (it wasn't)

I compared the Enhanced Email form with the default Form we are using and I noticed that the Description Control uses the "ActivityEditorControl" instead of a "Text Area" Control.

Is that the reason why images are shown directly inline here? Is it possible to use that control on the default form as well?

    Hi Marcel,

Are you also working with Sales Hub application?

Below is full screenshot of a received email, I didn't find an area as in your screenshot.

Another option is that you could change form to "Enhanced Email" to display image directly without clicking link.

    Hi Clofly,

I see. We are online and I can confirm what you say about the id and that the src is blank.

However I don't have the option to "Open the full email". I tested it in IE, Chrome, Firefox but the link is not showing up.

Is there another setting to enable that?

RE: Received EMail inline images not showing up

    Hi Marcel,

Server-Side Sync will create an unique content ID for embedded image in rich text editor to identify the image file, but src property of image will be blank when we are in viewing mode.

    pastedimage1590482175670v1.png

In a word, its a special mechanism, and it could be said the behavior is by design.

If you environment is online, then you could click "Open the full email" menu to show image manually in viewing mode.

We can find that image src will be available if we enabled the option.
