Country/Region of Origin field is not showing information in Sales order line details

Posted on by 5

Hi,

Any one please help me out

Path : Sales order line details>Foreign trade tab>Country/region of origin

Why Country/region of origin field is not showing any information in sales order line details form. Actually this field should collect information from the product master and also this field is uneditable. Why this field is not showing information in sales order line details. How to show product master information on this field.

Thanks

    Thanks Guy,

I have seen your article in LCS, now I understand the process.

    Cheers

    Hi,
for country/region of origin data should be taken from the product master
Why do you think that? This is what is says in the TechNet help:

Country/region of origin - The unique identifier of the county or region where the item was manufactured. For transaction lines that are identified by a product, the information in this field comes from the item record and is not editable. For transaction lines that are identified by a description, you can enter a country or region.

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa585863.aspx

The help is a bit ambiguous, because you could read it that the data from the item record will be put into that field. I think this is not true, and it does not do this when I tested it on AX 2012 R3 CU8.

However, when I put a Sales category on a Sales line, I am able to put a value in this field. THis is because it is not possible to put a Country of origin onto a sales category, so you must tell the line the country of origin. When you put an item on a sales line, AX does not need the Country of origin on the line, because it can get it from the Item when it needs to.

If you have access to Issue search on LCS, you can read this article which confirms my theory:

Solution 908241 Country of origin does not populate on a sales line

It says that 'Country of origin' works in the same way as 'Commodity code' does in the blog post I mentioned before.

    Thanks for reply

Sales order line has one item and country/region information was given for the item in foreign trade product master

    Path : Product information management>Released products>Foreign trade>Origin>Country/region

Still information provided in the product master is not taken into sales order line

For commodity code I do understand the process but for country/region of origin data should be taken from the product master

Anything I have missed out here?

    Hi,

I think its because AX will look to the Item when it needs to find Country of origin data. Only when the order line does not contain an item do you need to provide the Country of origin on the line itself.

This blog explains, for the related field 'Commodity code'.
