How can you enable outsourcing for use in Inventory Assembly Bills of Material -- not Production Bills of Material?

    Assembly Order's do not have in depth outsourcing/subcontractor functionality like Manufacturing. What you can do is use a line with a resource added on the assembly BOM. The resource is to account for the cost of the outsourcing/subcontractor.
     
    When you then pay the outsourcing vendor or subcontractor, you can create a purchase order with the same resource. But you will have to manually keep track of how times the resource was used on an assembly order, and how many times it was invoiced on a purchase document.

Since its initial deployment in January 2024, it has been operational without any issues in the production environment. In this setup, there are 12,940 items with varying BOM depths.     Affirmative, BC doesn't have out of box feature for outsourcing assembly orders. The workaround by Valentin is feasible. Or you can consider building a customization or find a 3rd party application.
