I was reviewing projects for a client and I noticed that the Project Begin Dates and Project End Dates are always the first and last day of the year the project was created. Is there some end of year process that would advance the End Dates.? There also are no additional records in the Budget Master table which is why I keep getting the message "The budget periodic records have not been created". Is there a process that would create those records.? These are government projects that rarely end. They are decades old.
Hi Richard,
The begin and end dates on projects are derived from the earliest budget or actual date and latest budget or actual date from all the cost categories and fees. They will be automatically adjusted as changes are made to Baseline, Forecast or (through posting transactions) Actual Dates.
If you need the Project End Date to be 12/31/20 for example, you could update the Forecast End Date in the Budget Detail Entry window for one of the cost categories. Upon saving, the Project End Date will be adjusted to match.
In my experience most users don't really worry about those dates because when they post transactions they are automatically adjusted for them.
To create periodic records in the PA01304, you will want to run PA Recreate Periodic as I mentioned in the other post. Then do the PA Reconcile Periodic. This will create records for the span of time the Begin and End Dates encompass.
I hope that helps!
